Caturday and Year of the Cat

When I joined Google+, one of the things that surprised me was the huge amount of posts about cats there. Later I saw that happens on Saturdays, re-named Caturday for that people. I don’t know if it’s something common in USA or just happens in Google+.

I don’t care about cats, not more than about walruses or beetles, for example. I prefer dogs. However, I’ll contribute to this Caturday with a wonderful song, Year of the Cat, of Al Stewart, 1976.

If you know it you’ll wish to listen it once more, if you don’t know it you must listen it immediately. But before, a brief explanation about the meaning of this song, taken from Songfacts

The title comes from Vietnamese astrology. The Year of the Cat is also called the Year of the Rabbit… It comes every 12 Years and it is supposed to be a stress free year. The Last Year of the Cat was 1999. It was also the Year of the Cat in 1975, the year before this came out. But, there is no guarantee that the Year of the Cat that Stewart sang about was 1975, since it could have been 1963, 1951,1939, 1927 and so forth. We’ll look forward to the next one in 2011.
